VINTAGE: RUSSWIN # 6248 (INDUSTRIAL VERSION OF THEIR FAMOUNS P1248)  ENTRY LOCK w/CYLINDER & KEY 8" FACE NICE  (15594)
    Vintage:
RUSSWIN circa 1920 - 1940 entry mortise lock lock.   Reconditioned, with a new Security Guard brass cylinder and two keys.
NOTE:  The Russwin #6248 is the industrial version of the P1248.  Inside the lock is nearly identical to the P1248 and, in fact, most of the parts are marked P1248.  The major difference is the size of the faceplate and we have noted that differences below.
    Dimensions as follows:
    FACEPLATE:
Brass front plate on the 6248 measures  8" long, 1 1/4" wide and 3/16" thick while the measurements for the P1248 are 7 3/4" long, 1 1/8" wide, 1/8" thick.
    BOX:
Box is 3 7/8" deep from the front edge of the heavy brass faceplate to the back of the box.  The box is 5 5/8" from top to bottom.
    SCREWS:
Screws are on 7 1/4" centers.
    BACKSET:
Backset (the distance from the front of the front plate to the center of the knob post hole) is 2 7/8".
    REVERSIBILITY:
    The lock is reversible.
    FUNCTIONALITY:
    Functions perfectly.
    KNOB POST or SHAFT:
Accommodates a split knob post of 5/16" on the inside and 3/8" on the outside. Has a small 1/8" knob post hole in the back of cylinder lock so it will accommodate a thumb turn knob to throw the deadbolt from the inside of the door.  If you are replacing an identical lock, you may have everything you need.  However, if you need a split knob post or knobs, let us know as we may have what you need in stock and we can add that to your order and include in the same box when shipping.
If you are replacing the hard to find P1248 model, focus on the whether or not your door is wide enough to accept that faceplate which, as previously indicated, is larger that the one found on the P1248.
Nice, heavy duty and with keys!
