    RHC (READING HARDWARE CO) # 940 DOUBLE KEY ENTRY LOCK SET w/KEYS FULLY RESTORED (14333)
    Vintage, circa 1890-1910: Salvaged solid brass Japanned faceplate Reading Hardware Co mortise lock.  Push button with double key, entry mortise has been cleaned and restored. The lock has number 940 in the casting on the inside of the box and inside the box lid, this would have been the RHC internal number.
    FACEPLATE:
    Mortise lock has a heavy brass face plate with a length of 6 7/8" and a width of 1 1/16" and thickness of 1/8".
    BACKSET:
    Backset (the distance from the front edge of the face plate to the center of the knob post hole is 2 5/8".
    DROP:
    The drop (the distance from the center of the knob post hole to the center of the round portion at the top of the closest key slot is 1 5/8". Drop
    from the center of the knob post hole to the center of the top of the lower key slot is 3".
    KNOB POST or SHAFT:
    The lock accommodates a standard 5/16" split knob post.
    MORTISE BOX:
    The mortise box itself is 3 7/16" deep from the front edge of the faceplate to the back edge of the box and it is 4 3/4" high, 5/8" thick.
    REVERSIBILITY:
    The lock is reversible.
    KEYS:
    The lock comes with both the upper and the lower key (the lower key can be used from either the exterior or interior of the door while the upper key can only be used from the inside of the door).
    Fantastic original and restored Reading Hardware Company # 940 lock, works perfectly and, save for a few screws, is complete and ready for your project!!!
