    This is a high quality antique double-keyed entry mortise lock manufactured by the P.F. Corbin Co. circa 1878. This is a substantial entryway lock.  The faceplate is engraved with the beautiful 'Ceylon' pattern in a classic Eastlake design with bold, intricate geometric and floral details. This popular pattern was featured in their hardware catalogs though 1905.
    P. & F. Corbin originated in 1849.  In 1868 they began specializing in the manufacture of builder's hardware and locks. From this period through 1900 the company produced some of the finest brass and bronze builder’s hardware on the market, in a wide array of finishes and styles in the latest fashions. Many prominent buildings from Boston to Philadelphia, including the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford, are outfitted with Corbin decorative hardware.  In 1902 the company merged with Russwin to form The American Hardware Corporation.
    The outside of the mortise case is marked with the Corbin logo on one side and "PATENTED NOV 1878' on the other side.
    Faceplate is heavy, 1/8" thick brass
    Reversible (can be used for right or left swing door)

    I will include new brass #8 x 1" wood screws.
    All you need is a screwdriver and you are ready to install!
    Restoration:
    Unlike most of the locks you will find on eBay, this lock has been mechanically refurbished.  I disassembled and brushed out the interior of the lock to remove debris and significant rust.  I applied a high quality industrial lubricant to the interior to ensure the lock works smoothly. I tested and confirmed that the lock is fully functional.
    I polished the faceplate to a mirror finish.  I sprayed it with a high gloss polyurethane to prevent tarnishing.
    The interior and exterior of the steel mortise case has some missing paint but this won't be visible when the lock is installed in your door.
    Dimensions:
    Faceplate measure 6 7/8" tall by 1" wide.
    Box is 3  1/2" deep from the back of the front plate and it is 4  5/8" top to bottom.
    Screw holes are on 6" centers.
    Backset (the distance from the front edge of the face plate to the center of the knob post hole) is 2  1/2".
