Description
Great old latch is 9" long, without counting end tabs; 10 7/8" total. It's 2 1/4" wide where mounting screw holes are; 1 1/4" at center of bar/shaft. It is almost an inch thick. It has the 30" pull chain with end ring, and works great. Secured on top of barn door, one pulls the chain, to draw in the lock tab, to open the door (sliding or hinged); spring loaded to snap right back into place. One could shorten chain to use on garden gate. It is elegant yet practical, ornate but heavy duty and useful. Spring latch still works great, or it looks fabulous sitting there or mounted up. Other options are to pay twice as much at a hardware store for junk with no strength or character, or pay 10 X as much to have new one custom fabricated.
