Hard to find complete set of a PENN C-20 fancy rim lock. Lock body is circa 1890 - 1910. Penn produced this same pattern with different logos on the front. Seems as though the first production pieces carried this C20 logo, apparently designed to be a celebration of the advent of the 20th Century. The next model, like this one, simply carried the PENN logo. The company made other logo versions; one was private labeled for the Simmons (later Shapliegh) Hardware Company in St. Louis, Mo. that carried the SHC logo. Other versions of the lock carried the logo for 'R.L. Co', perhaps meaning Reading Lock Co.? Finally, at some point Penn may have made 'regional' models, perhaps to sell to local distributors. We have had versions with the letter 'N', versions with the letter 'S', also 'W', 'E' and even with one that reads 'SE'. The lock has been cleaned and keyed. The box body measures 3 1/4" wide and 4" high. The lock is keyed and it includes the keeper, the knob escutcheon and the key hole escutcheon.
