    Description

    A very early wrought iron surface mount stock lock dead bolt, circa 1800, with well executed ornamentation on each end of the front.  Stock locks had wrought iron lock works mortised into a block of wood to mount.
    This bolt was made for a left hand door opening inward.
    Keyed access from both outside and inside.  The wooden portion measures 6
    " high x 10" deep x 1  3/4"
    .  Wood shows age and some damage on several areas of the edges.  There are three plates of wrought iron partially covering the inner works visible on the back - the largest shows an oval brass key surround about 2" high x 1  1/4" wide which would be seen from outside.  The bolt measures 1  5/8" high.  Being sold as found - no key available.
