Penn Antique RestorationAntique Eastlake Double Pocket Door Set w/Pulls, Locks, & Screws
Exquisite, original, complete, double pocket door set made by, "P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co." of New Britain, CT circa 1895. The set consists of 4 stamped steel pulls, 2 steel mortise locks, and all 12 original installation screws. We don't have an original key, but we could modify a large old skeleton key to work for an additional

All 4 pulls and the faceplate of the lock with the keyhole are bronze-plated; the other lock's faceplate is solid bronze. Originally, the bronze plated parts also had a black enamel paint in their recessed areas to add contrast to the lovely raised details. Some of the bronze plating and most of the black paint wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish.
All plates are embellished with Corbin's beautiful, highly popular, Aesthetic (Eastlake) style "Diagonal" pattern. The last 2 photos show the page in Corbin's 1895 catalog showing a similar lockset with the same pattern.
We removed the set from a large pair of pocket doors that we salvaged from upstate NY (see photos). At the point of salvage, the pulls and lock faceplates were covered under a thick layer of shellac. The lock without the keyhole had a broken faceplate that was beyond repair. Since then, we've removed the shellac and replaced the lock with one with a solid bronze faceplate from our collection. We tried to preserve as much patina (tarnish) as possible while cleaning, but the shellac did such a good job of keeping the bronze from tarnishing that only the solid bronze faceplate has patina.
All parts are in excellent condition with only tiny nicks and light scratches here and there, but no breaks, chips, cracks, gouges.
The internal parts of the locks were removed, cleaned, and put back. Now, the locks function smoothly. The edge pulls from within the locks spring forth when you push the buttons on the faceplates.
Beautiful, complete pocket door sets like this one don't come around very often, and they don't tend to stick around when they do--don't miss out!
