Vintage Mallory and Wheeler rim lock complete with cast steel box & keeper & key & both the knob and the key escutcheon!!!. Patent dates of 1863 and 1864.
MW, Co was located in New Haven, Ct and one of the many makers of American Builder's Hardware during the second half of the 19th Century. We have bead blasted off all the old paint, dirt and grime and the applied a coat of black satin. Complete and a real beauty! Perfect for a primitive door. The keeper attaches to the door frame while the main body is attached to the inside surface of the door. The knob post hole is 5/16 so it will take a normal set of porcelain knobs. If you need some, let us know, hundreds of sets in stock. Comes with one huge functioning brass key that works fine and with the knob escutcheon and the key escutcheon. Ready for your project! The lock is reversible. Very nice condition, no cracks or chips, as good we've had.
The box measures 5 1/8" wide by nearly 3 3/4" high.
